With more than fifteen years of experience as a school psychologist, Dr. Stephen Howley offers his client families professional psychoeducational evaluations, behavioral and social-emotional assessments, and diagnoses. A seasoned clinician and experienced counselor, Dr. Howley tactfully combines the methodical expertise of a trained researcher with the warm, listening ear of a frontline educational psychologist who genuinely cares about their students’ wellbeing and success.

An active professional in the field of mental health, Dr. Howley holds multiple memberships in national and state psychological organizations, including the National Association of School and Psychologists (NASP) and Massachusetts School Psychologists Association (MSPA). He has also served as a board member at the South Suburban branches of both the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health (DMH) and Children’s Behavioral Health Initiative.

Having earned degrees from Northeastern University and William James College, Dr. Howley possesses comprehensive academic training and is equally well-versed in traditional and modern approaches to mental health care.

As a school psychologist at the Scituate Public School District, Dr. Howley served the student population in myriad ways, such as developing and providing research-based therapeutic supports that aligned with IEP recommendations, facilitating individual and group therapy, consulting and collaborating with teaching faculty to actualize accommodation plans, and working within the home environment to ensure students had access to proper school supports.

Dr. Howley’s work with students in grades two through twelve had him regularly conducting a variety of evaluations, including cognitive, academic, curriculum-based, social-emotional, and behavioral assessments. He has also developed and taught a series of classes specifically focused on addressing the unique needs of students with both emotional disabilities and Autism Spectrum Disorder Diagnosis.

As a member of the Vested Academics Team, Dr. Howley delivers comprehensive and thorough psychoeducational evaluations to his client families. Whether working one-on-one with a student or discussing testing results with parents directly, he devotes himself to upholding higher standards of professionalism, approachability, and understanding.

Often found enjoying family time and new outdoor adventures with his wife and two young children, Dr. Howley is an avid hiker and mountain bike enthusiast.
