“Families often come to us with a real fear of all the unknowns. It’s incredible to see those same families relax and take a deep breath, knowing that they are finally getting the answers and resources they need to make informed decisions about their child’s education.”

At Lunenburg Primary School, Melanie served as a Special Education Preschool Teacher. Here, she worked alongside a team of paraprofessionals and various service providers, including speech therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, board certified behavior analysts, and adjustment counselors. Melanie planned and implemented individualized lessons to meet the needs of diverse learners with severe needs, evaluated incoming students, chaired IEP meetings, and collaborated with advocates to ensure effective progress.

Her work in the school setting has also focused on school readiness, adaptive behavior, and monitoring student skills to ensure continuity and progress. In these various roles, Melanie communicated with service providers, parents, and administrators while training and encouraging a team of paraprofessionals.

Melanie’s strengths in problem-solving, research, and conflict resolution have not only contributed to her professional success but also the same collaborative approach and dedication she regularly uses to empower her client families.

When she isn’t working with students, Melanie enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, reading a good book, and pitching in at her town’s local Community Art Center.
