While earning her B.A. in English at the University of Vermont, Jen knew that she would be pursuing her childhood dream of becoming an educator and began to align her coursework with that goal, minoring in multicultural studies and secondary education.

“I’ve always loved writing and working with kids, so I feel like I found a perfect match in writing coaching. I get to help students explore their identity through storytelling, which often leads to insightful conversations—something I look forward to each time.”

Vested Academics

Having received her Massachusetts teaching license, she started her career as an English teacher at Wakefield High School, working with students from all levels and developing classroom management skills. Jen would go on to earn a Masters of Arts in English from Salem State University, expand her teaching to cover public speaking skills, and further empower her students to bring their literary creations to life.

As a mother, Jen learned to deepen her empathy and listening skills, leading her to develop a mindfulness and writing practice. She put these to good use, coaching students privately in college essay writing, test prep strategies, and general study habits. One-on-one sessions and small group classes allowed her to hone her ability to adapt to the needs of each student and cater to diverse learning styles. Connecting to students and helping them take charge of their own learning is one of her greatest thrills.

When not working with students, Jen is often adventuring with her three children, enjoying nature with family and friends, exploring new music, and seeking humor and joy in her surroundings.
